Jeanie Marie Buss is an American businesswoman from the United States. she is currently president and controlling shareholder of the Los Angeles Lakers National Basketball Association. A California native, Buss has been raised by an upper class family. Jerry Buss was her father. Jerry Buss started out as a realty tycoon, after which he later became the owner of the Lakers. When she was in the year 1972, her parents separated in divorce and she was left feeling emotionally abandoned. At 19 years old, she began working for the family business as the general manager for the Los Angeles Strings professional tennis team. The team was later renamed in the Los Angeles Blades, a professional roller-hockey team. Before she became vice president of the Lakers in 2013, she was president of Great Western Forum. Buss along with her five brothers and sisters and their father, who owned the Lakers and controlled them until his death in 2013, inherited the ownership via a trust. The five siblings enjoyed equal vote rights. She assumed her duties as president of the Los Angeles Lakers. Buss owns a co-owned business Women of Wrestling an pro-wrestling promotional company based in Los Angeles.
