Jazz singer Nancy Wilson a three-time Grammy Award-winner was born on the 20th of February 1937 in Ohio, Chillicothe. She was the daughter of iron worker Olden Wilson, and former Lillian Ryan who worked as a housekeeper. Nancy was the youngest of six kids. Nancy grew up listening to her dad's records and his passion for music. When she was young she had already developed the impression of who she was and what she hoped to accomplish. Nancy recorded her first record in the band's studio with Dot Records while in the band. Cannonball addederley recommended that she relocate into New York for her career, and in 1959 she moved into The Big Town. Adderley's Agent heard her at The Blue Morocco Night Club, Boston Road, The Bronx and she signed. within a month after arriving at New York City. Her debut on the recording stage came in 1960 by releasing one single following a deal with Capitol records. Guess Who Saw Today. Capitol issued five Nancy Wilson albums within two years. In the era of Adderley Wilson's leadership, Wilson started focusing on R&B however she soon switched towards torch and jazz. Nancy Wilson and Cannonball Adderley collaborated in 1962, which helped push her up the charts. By 1963 she had the biggest success through Tell Me the Truth. The following year it led to her being booked at New York's Coconut Grove - the top nightclub in America.
