Ann Turkel, who was wed with Richard Harris for eight years prior to her divorce in the year 2000, is still trying to come to terms with the loss of Richard Harris. Turkel was born into a Jewish family and was raised with her mom in Manhattan. By 16 years old, she was studying under Sanford Meisner and Philip Burton, both at the Neighborhood playhouse and in the American Musical and Dramatic Academy. Ann Turkel has one of the most fascinating and diverse careers in the entertainment industry and is admired around the world for her achievements in motion picture, television, modeling, and in business. Born and raised in Manhattan, Ann always had an ability to entertain. At the age of 5, she began dancing lessons and continued to study art through her college years. She credits her creative flair to her grandmother. Ann took classes in acting, dancing, and voice throughout her childhood. At the age of sixteen, Ann had studied at the Musical Theatre Academy and the Neighborhood Playhouse with some of the top acting instructors in the city including Sandy Meisner and Philip Burton. Ann as well as a number of her high-school classmates made up a school rock and roll ensemble. She also performed a season of summer stock stage at the Berkshire Playhouse in Stockbridge, Massachusetts in such plays as The Pajama Game" and West Side Story. Ann's appearance as a member of her band at an event for fashion was the moment Gloria Schiff, editor of Vogue Magazine, discovered Ann. Within one week, editor-in-chief Diana Vreeland had Ann shoot her very first Vogue cover with photographer Richard Avedon. Then Ann was one of the most sought after models in the country gracing the covers of some of the most prestigious fashion magazines, including Vogue Bazaar and Cosmopolitan among numerous other magazines. Two years later, Ann was able to enter the world market performing well throughout Europe and Japan as the face of such cosmetic giants as Max Factor Revlon and Chanel.
