In 2011 Denver was named the first Hall of Fame inductee. Denver is a symbol of the state for people worldwide. In my journeys, you come across someone on the opposite side of the world or someone who is from New Zealand and you say 'I'm from Colorado and the first thing out of their mouth is Oh John Denver! Brown stated. Take Me Home Country Roads was Denver's first Top 10 Hit as a Solo Artist after working in small Folk Music Groups. The song was composed by Bill Danoff. Danoff originally wrote it with Johnny Cash's music in mind, but Denver knew from the first time he heard the first versions of the song that it would be a big popular. The song was recorded a couple of days after playing at Washington D.C. before an audience that was very enthusiastic.
